The Magnolia Palace

I love Fiona Davis’ books, especially “The Lions of Fifth Avenue”!
I was heartbroken to read her story on being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Thank you so much for sharing your story, for sharing other people’s stories through your writing, and for being such an inspiration.

Notable lines:

“‘That sordid world, the city outside that’s teeming with people whose lives are full of toil and trouble. If they walk by one of my statues and look up and see something beautiful, an idea or person who inspires them, then I have done my job. I do this not for me. It’s for humanity.’”

“‘The work depicts the lure of pleasure versus the difficult ascent to true happiness.’”

“Before she’d realized that the world was not as welcoming as she’d been led to believe, and that floundering through confusion and misfortune was the only way to figure out who she was and what she wanted out of life.”
