Next Year in Havana

Happy November! I’ve really been loving reading historical fiction these past few years, especially since I never learned much History when I was growing up. It was always too boring or difficult to understand, but now I can learn and be more engaged from historical fiction books!!

I learned so much about Cuba, identity, patriotism and revolutionizing change from this book, and can’t wait to read the sequel!

Notable lines:

“One day we had everything, the next it was knocked over like a castle in the sand. You never know what life will throw at you.”

“You never know what’s to come. That’s the beauty of life. If everything happened the way we wished, the way we planned, we’d miss out on the best parts, the unexpected pleasures.”

“For some, there is only one true love. But not everyone is lucky enough to have that love work out for them. And for some, the love we cannot have is the most powerful one of all.”
